Daniil Rumiantsev was born in Russia, in the town of Novomoskovsk, where he began playing the flute at the age of 6.

Later, he continued his studies at Gnesin’s Special Music School in Moscow.

Since 2019, Daniil has been studying at the FHNW Academy of Music in Basel, Switzerland, with Professor Felix Renggli.

Daniil Rumiantsev is a laureate of more than 20 international music competitions in Russia, Serbia, Italy, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and Switzerland. In 2021, 2023 and 2026, he won the FHNW Basel Music Academy competition and performed a solo programme with the Sinfonieorchester Basel. In 2024, Daniil became the winner of The Kiefer Hablitzel │ Göhner Music Prize. In 2025, he won the First Prize at the Tinka Muradori International Flute Competition in Split, Croatia, as well as the Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Croatian Composition. In 2026,

Daniil obtained a Master’s degree in Pedagogy, and his project was recognised as the best in its category.

Daniil Rumiantsev is a scholarship holder of various charitable foundations in Russia and abroad. He has also participated in numerous festivals, such as the International Festival “Moscow Meets Friends”, the Salzburg Festival 2023, and the Young Euro Classic Festival in Berlin, performing both with a solo programme and as part of an orchestra.

During his studies in Russia and abroad, he gained extensive experience in orchestral practice. In 2016, he was a member of theVerbier Festival Youth Orchestra (VFO). In 2023, he became a member of the Gustav Mahler European Youth Orchestra (GMJO).
